Also new to this board....

I am SO happy to have found this board! I am not sure when it was created, and I have been a member of parentsplace for years - but, nonetheless, I am glad the board is here! *lol*

My name is Tracy, I am 39 yo, married for going on 10 years to my wonderful dh (38 yo) have a dd named Alliye (13.5 yo) and ss named Michael (13 yo).

Sometimes they can be good as gold and other times they can drive me NUTS! HA! I have found that it is SO much easier raising a boy than a girl. I don't know if us girls are just too dramatic and emotional or what. But I can tell you that my dd drives me SO crazy at times that I don't know what to do with her.

Does anyone else have problems with their female teenager? Mine hates school (other than the social aspects of it) and hates having to study or do homework or anything like that at all. I have to fight tooth and nail to get her to do anything when it comes to school. I have also bribed her, grounded her, etc.... but it only seems to make the situation worse. I could use any and all suggestions that you are willing to give.

My dd starts back to school on August 30th and will be in the 8th grade. My dh and I have told her that in no uncertain terms will she have a social life this year whatsoever unless she brings home straights A's and B's. That at the beginning of school she will not be allowed to go to dances, friend's bday parties, etc., unless we are seeing her do all of her work correctly every night and making the grades.

She also has a very rude mouth that we are trying to curtail as well and not having any luck with that. When she's disrespectful she is punished by getting extra chores, and/or being grounded. However, that doesn't seem to work either. It's gotten so bad at times that I have started looking for an all girls' ranch to send her to, so that maybe she'd see just how good and easy of a life she has here at home with us and start appreciating us and her life more.

Any words of advice would be appreciated. Sorry, this was a little longer than I had planned. I can't wait to get to know all of you!

Hugs,
Trac~ :)

Hi Caroline,

Yes, that could be true as she absolutely HATES math! I think she made a C or D in it this year. Surprisingly though, she made an A- in Science - we never even knew that she LIKED Science! *lol* I am really hoping that this year is better for her in all of her classes. I swear that she only likes school for the social aspect of it! :(

Hugs,
Trac~ :)
