I guess it depends on how far people are traveling. If they're only coming a few hours by car then I don't think it's a big deal for them to bring ice. If they're coming a long way, that's a different story. Also, if there is a family or someone who really doesn't want to cook (or isn't that good LOL) then assigning them the ice is a pretty good idea. Logistically it makes more sense to me to have one person bring the ice but if I was invited, I wouldn't mind bringing my share.
I know this doesn't give you a solid answer but just thought I'd share my thoughts...
Rasheita, we just recently went up to NJ for a lacrosse tournament. We bought ice on Fri to put in our cooler since we would be at the tournament thru Sat & its hard to leave the fields to go
That is my thought. If I am packing my cooler with foods and then traveling (or not) I would plan to prepare the cooler with ice as well. Ice isn't an awful expense, $3 will fill a cooler with ice and then everyone has what they need.

I would say that if people are bringing food down in their coolers, then they'd bring their own ice.

Either way, not worth making waves over.

I think everyone bringing a cooler should also bring the ice.
