I'm just speechless!
We can't even show PG at our middle school without administrative approval and we can only show PG-13 with administrative and parent approval. As far as I'm aware, our school just doesn't even TRY the PG-13 thing, but we did show 7th graders National Treasure on Field Day last year.

That is how it is in our Junior High as well!

My problem is, we are well known in the district. PTA, me working in the district. I'm PTA secretary next year. I'm sure the principal will just be so thrilled with me when he gets a copy of the letter. :)""
All the more reason to complain.
Morning Joy, this is the movie. It's about the first heart transplant. It's shown in Hannah's science class.

DH is going to phone the principal today and warn him that we're taking it to the next level. :)
Hannah's in 7th grade and you are right, I don't think many kids come home and tell their parents that they watched a movie with the f word in it. :)
I may be repeating a question, I haven't read all the posts. But that would make me MAD.
Did the school send home a note saying that your child was going to be watching that movie?
Our school system (in middle school) usually does. At the beginning of the year, the social studies team sent home a note telling us of the movies the kids would be seeing. Johnny Tremain, some of Dances With Wolves etc. I looked at the list, it didn't seem too bad, so I let it be.
Now, her team also has had "Survivor" parties every month or so. I get notes home too if the kids are going to be seeing a movie. The note (and I had to sign it) that came home right before spring break was that the kids were going to watch Happy Feet. Ok- I thought it was a bit silly to be saying that it was ok for my kid to watch a silly kid movie. But you know- I'd rather know what's going on in the classroom.
Youngest dd is in 4th grade. I don't remember what movie it was they were watching,(it was a social studies movie) but it had a bunch of 4-letter words in it too. The teacher had the class watch maybe 10 minutes of it. She then turned it off, and told the kids that they weren't going to watch any more of it b/c she wasn't comfortable with it (she's got 3 kids, 6th grader, 4th grader and a 2nd grader). I was kind of annoyed that an ELEMENTARY school would do that- but I had to give the teacher credit that she was annoyed and turned it off. I think she said something to the principal too.
