school clothes at the beginning of the school year (for us it starts tomorrow). Or do you wait to buy school clothes when it gets cooler (in end of Sept or Oct.)? L

In Central California, it's still shorts weather into October. No point in buying long pants that she may grow out of. I wait until the temperature starts dropping before I do any major school shopping (she usually gets a new pair of sneakers at the beginning of the school year, though, as I rarely send her to school in sandals).

I don't get anything specifically different for ds for school vs. home; he wears tshirts and shorts from April-October here in St. Louis. I get shoes when he needs them as his tastes and the trends vary so much in middle school! (I told him to start school before getting any this year since it seems shoes are THE trendy thing the boys are into; I didn't want to spend money on one pair only to find they've lost favor! LOL) Pants I get in spring on closeout for the next year, often going up 2 sizes knowing he could spurt. He likes his jackets and hoodies large, so I didn't need any of those this year. I think all he really needs (and I have put away) are new socks - the summer ones have gotten pretty grungy!
