Anyone seen Monsters vs. Aliens?

I'm thinking of taking the kids tomorrow and wondering if it's any good. We have a theater gift card to use so I thought we'd enjoy a treat but I don't want to waste it. The other option that Evan mentioned was Knowing - the Nicolas Cage movie where he learns about tragic events before they happen and has to save the world. Megan is in third grade and Knowing sounds a little intense for her but she has seen the Harry Potter movies, Lord of the Rings, and some other pretty intense flicks and we'd go in the afternoon so it wouldn't affect her sleep.

Thoughts/opinions? Other suggestions? Hannah Montana is out because Evan is coming and we'll probably take Megan and some friends for her birthday later in the month.

Gillian loved Monsters vs. Aliens. I thought it was all right but not amazing, but I was also so tired the night we saw it that I had all I could do just to stay awake. :)

I think Knowing looks really cool, but from the previews I've seen it would probably be too much for most third-graders. Gillian is 10 and I know she wouldn't be able to take it (she's pretty sensitive, though).

That is one of my pet peeves, scary movie previews! I hate scary movies and I don't even want to see the previews for them.

I don't know that it would have been bad, but you are at a PG-13 movie and all the previews are for R rated films, at least from what I could remember.

Thanks for your input everyone! I made the parental decision to see Monsters vs. Aliens as opposed to Knowing. Knowing would be too intense for Megan. We're using a gift card so even if we don't totally LOVE the movie, we're not wasting our money. I figured out yesterday that if we don't buy candy/popcorn, etc we can see two movies with the card. I'll save the other movie for a rainy summer day when we're all going berserk. :)
