DYK Thread for April

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

feel free to snag one of these blinkies as well.

dyk Kayleigh would love to go to Cornell. My sister would like her to attend the Animal Sciences program at University of Maryland College Park, where all of her sons went to school

dyk Wierd to think in a couple of years we will be doing college visits

dyk I don't know how much community service that Kayleigh needs, but her 4H activities should cover a lot of that

dyk Yesterday she chose her classes for next year. I am not thrilled that she didn't give herself a free. I think everyone could use a break during

Gabby did keep one period free.Is Kayleigh taking all honors next year.If she is she should have at least one period free. But I guess she knows what she can handle.I can't beleive college is only a few years away.Gabby has to do a Sr project not really sure how much if any community service she needs.I do know she has to do two or three job shadows each year starting when she is in 10th grade. Is Kayleigh interested in becoming a vet?Gabby is really steering away from the maths and the sciences and she will take what she needs in these areas but no more.I really don't see her going into a science major. She is all about creativity and words. She writes really well, especially when she can write her own stuff.

dyk I hope Brenna has a wonderful time and enjoys the show

dyk Kayleigh loves going to shows, so that's become a common birthday or Christmas gift for her.

.Not really sure where she wants to go she is talking about Princton,Wesylyn,or Yale, but we will see.We are kind of pushing an in state school, but we shal see.Next year she will take the PSAT since all Freshman in her school take them.Gabby will have lunch, plus a study hall. That is if she ends up at the M/S next year and she does not have to share it with the M/S kids,if that happens they may have to go half days which will be a mess. Our school board is so messed up.They had a plan ,for all the schools, but they switched it.Now they have 6th graders in with grades 9-12,it was suppose to be 8th graders, which would have been a better fit for the year.At this point I don't think the H/S will ever get finished. All the board members do is fight and go behind each others backs.I just wish I knew where Gab would be next year.

dyk Oh, it must be hard not knowing what school she will be in

dyk It would be great if she went to a Northeast school, we could get together when you visit

dyk State schools are a good idea, I am hoping that when the time comes, Kayleigh realizes that if you're going to end up going for an advanced degree, you do your undergrad at the state school and save the expensive school for your grad work

dyk of course, she is at that stage where you can't tell her anything and she's sure she'll get into Cornell and get good scholarships, etc etc etc

dyk So I dont even bother anymore at this point

Well she might if she has the grades. However some of Gabby's friends have siblings who have have over 4.os and they did not get all that much in the way of scholarships.
