DYK Thread for April
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
feel free to snag one of these blinkies as well.

I don't think she uses the bathroom unless it is ABSOLUTLY necessary (ie during her period).
So then I had to have the UTI discussion, and how it's not good to hold urine for long periods of time. But neither kid will use it b/c they say school bathrooms are "gross".
I remember in my high school there was 1 bathroom that you NEVER wanted to go to unless it was an emergency.
Much better.
dyk maybe I am blowing this out of proportion due to Amy's isses
dyk I have heard however from other moms on her soccer team how hard it is to get to a bathroom at the middle school as there is just no time
dyk in an era when schools seek to be more and more about promoting healthy habits (i.e. removing snack vending machines, adding more required phys ed, etc) and more about being student-centered why are so many environments in which girls either have limited access to or inadequate facilities for using the bathroom during most of the school day
dyk I am sure I would not be ready to advocate for and already working to plan meetings for Amy if her issues were not as severe as they are and yet I wonder how many girls fall somewhere between typical and Amy and for whom no one ever stands up or advocates
dyk hope your busy day goes well
dyk did you receive my latest note
dyk the whole lot of you are an amazing and committed bunch
dyk I appreciate the way you have welcomed me into the group
dyk the more replies I read on this, the sadder I feel
dyk I suspect the general attitudes and approach is reflective of a very real problem and one that no one cares enough about to take action to correct
dyk it would sound to an outside observer as if our girls attended schools in a third world country when you hear things like have been said by several (stays away from them or holds it and tries not to go during the school day or uses bathroom as a last resort or to txt from)
dyk I would be so curious to know what the average # of times a girl in middle and in high school visits her school bathrooms on a given day or week
dyk this raises more
