DYK Thread for August

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Speaking of cheerleading.....

We had practice last night and there are two girls who haven't completed their fundraiser (it was due end of July) and one of them has never turned in a sports physical--due last week. A third girl has decided she may want to play volleyball. It is in our rules that you CANNOT cheer and play MS volleyball. If (drastic here, but it could happen) they are all removed from the squad, we will be down to 7 cheerleaders! What do you do with 7 girls?????? Not many stunts thats for sure!

our uniforms are kept...they are made to fit each girl. all the way to the shoes. And the girls get in free to the games the parents will have to pay to get into the game still. oh joy.

thats strange. Our school wraps cheerleading around everything. Jackie is in the band..as well but most of our cheerleaders are on other teams as well. they wrap around their games if they can. But i can understand the conflict.. must be difficult.

DYK I hope that worst case scenario doesn't come true. If it did are their alternates or possibly a second tryout?

they get to keep the uniforms for ours too, but they change every year in middle school--they grow so rapidly! So they have to buy new ones every year. Every now & then, they can fit into someone's from last year, so they buy it from that person, but not always. Our girls have 1 skirt, 2 tops (long & short), and a monogrammed warm-up suit and a practice outfit (t-shirt & shorts), and shoes, a monogrammed bag, socks, bows (at least 2 different ones because they have to put on the announcement which one to wear each night), pompons, the cone thing (can't think of the name), it also covers the choreographer fee which is HUGE (sponsor is not paid...or at least not through the cheerleader fee) and the camp fee which is also huge.

Sometimes, they change the uniform, and when they do that, ALL of the girls have to buy new uniforms.

I guess since the football cheer isn't connected to the school they can say whatever they want.

I doubt it Gina.....it's a really long story, but we had very very few try out because of one girl who was trying out. Since nobody else did try out our girls pretty much had a walk on....after she was named to the squad and paid registration fees she quit. Ahhhh, gotta love 13 year old girls and all their drama!

We'll survive.

DYK based on this additional data I will pray the worst possible dropout scenario never materializes!
