DYK Thread for August
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

glad you got your new fridge. Ours is about 17 years old. The range top is about 21 years old, the oven is as old as the house--almost 30 years old--that will be the next appliance to replace. The dishwasher is 6 years old, the washer 16, and the dryer 6.
The uniforms are rentals, except for her freshman one, that one was included in the price, but we had to pay separately to have them altered. I've already spent $43.50 for alterations and she's already grown out of one and had to get a new skirt that I'll have to have altered when she gets home from camp with it.
I still haven't seen a breakdown of the budget or what it covers, I know i have paid separately for their send off bags for camp as well as their bows and bloomers and we had to send money for 3 meals at camp because they got there a day early and are staying a day later. all their camp outfits, shoes and socks are included in the fees.
To my knowledge that does not include tickets to the games, I hadn't even thought of that. They have to work one Varsity game selling programs, but I assume they have to pay to get into the rest. I guess I should ask because I know the games are not cheap at all, I think its like $8 a game or something. I have to work 2 games, one to sell t-shirts and one to work concession stands, so she won't be going to those games, she'll be babysitting the kids, unless DH is home in time to watch them.
Oh that sucks! That would definitely put a dent in things for you guys. I know our physical had to be in before they left for camp, although I don't know if they even checked since we didn't turn ours in until Tuesday afternoon.
Nice to see you back Sandy, not that i've been around much either, but still. :-)
Sorry to hear that Laura! Hopefully the appliances will last longer than you think. If it makes you feel any better, I super glued the handle back on my oven to get it through for a while longer. I know we should just get a new one, but I'd prefer to wait for a little while longer.
Speaking of cheerleading, we got an email from the team mom saying the girls were having a great time at camp and that all 12 freshman girls got nominated for all american. I have no idea what that means, or how it works or anything, but I'm sure she's excited about it.
I am actually surprised, I haven't heard a peep from her, no texts, or anything. Oh well, not a big deal, just a bit surprised, but I'm sure they are keeping them pretty busy.
yeah, I left bloomers out of my list....I think those are kind of important...lol
Our cheerleaders get into all of our games free, but like mentioned, the parents have to pay to get in.
Aly not only has to play for the band at the 4 home football games, but also "1-3 basketball games in early February". What????? UGH!
Parents of band members would have to pay, but being a teacher, I get into any and all regular season games throughout the parish. So I don't have to pay to get in. Mike can also get in to our (just our school) home games for free, so if he comes to see her play, he won't have to pay.
Okay, I know you are all on FB anyways, but I just had to share a picture of Madison I took yesterday. it is so darn cute...
I really need to check on the game fees. I guess it would make sense that they were to get in for free, but I don't know. They don't tell us anything really, they just expect us to know these things.
