DYK Thread for August
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

How'd it go?

I thought you were in the school system but since I had been mia for so long, I thought I had missed something.

hey Ang! Nice to see you.
Your post would get more notice under the second folder--so I'd re-post this if I were you. We have a lot of regular members that post on this board, and many lurkers, but only a handful of people post in this thread....not really an advice thread more of a chit-chat thread. And while those that see your post here will gladly post, it will get more attention out there.
That said, I personally won't buy one. However, I have many friends and even family that have bought one for their young children.
If you do get one, get it under your homeowner's insurance. If a kid trespasses and gets hurt, you can still be charged in some cases. And I'm sure your daughter will want friends to play on it.
I've not heard of the springless ones, but I do know that the springs are one of the biggest issues in injuries.
Another big risk is having multiple people on one trampoline. Now, I'll admit, when I was a kid...the BEST way to jump was with more than one person....especially when one would bounce the other higher...it wasn't even worth jumping if you didn't have that thrill. But that is another major issue (one in which the net around the trampoline doesn't help). You should NEVER have more than one person on a trampoline at one time.
One more risk is to make sure little ones don't run under the trampoline (after a ball, for example) while someone is jumping.
dyk Congratulations on your tenure, yes we have that here in NY and my nephew in MD does too
dyk Here, teachers and TA's are on a 3 year tenure track
dyk But if you worked at least a year in some other district in NY, you get tenure after two years as a teacher in our district
