DYK Thread for August

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

LOL! I know we have more than that, but I guess the president didn't think it was necessary to get other help, she didn't have a problem with staying there all day. Of course, she was also almost an hour late because after she got everything loaded up in her truck and dropped it off, she was dripping with sweat and she went home to shower again.

Why would a teacher care what shoes a student wears, unless she doesn't have that much going on?

A former student (from last year) came down my hall to see ME (nobody else) and to give me a hug. It was not a student I would have expected either....it really made my day!!!

Of course, after 8th grade lunch, my former students were in line and supposed to be quiet in the hall to go back to class (they are passing by 6th & 7th grade classrooms in session) and they were all trying to tell me hey and give me hugs....I had my finger on my mouth trying to shush them before they got in trouble for the noise.

I bet that mad eyou feel good.I know at the begining of each year Gab talks about how much she misses her teachers from the previous year.Since in each grade the teachers expect you to be more independant.

Not really. But of course you know nothing about my daughter her teachers or her school. All of Gabby's teachers know she wants to be a fashion designer and she is into fasion,so when signing a year book they make it a little personal. The same teacher also put that she is an excellent student and a hard worker and she can do anything she puts her mind too. There is nothing wrong with a teacher putting something personal about a child. But of course you do not know much about mos of the people on this board. You just look for the negative and chose to express your unwanted negative opinion and chose to critize EVERYONE on the board.hen you say we are all unwelecoming.Well you tend to put people on the definsive.Really if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.

It's really important to make the kids each feel special & unique. And it's way easier said than done! You should have seen the number of hurt faces when I knew half of the kids' names on the first day, but not the others'.

Kids are so sensitive at this age.Plus I am sure you know everyones name now.I still remember my 7th grade science teacher called me Laurie the whole yeareven after I told him my name was Laura.I am glad the teachers at Gabby's school try to know a little something about most kids in their classes. They know the kids who love sports,or who love to read or whatever.
