The kids are going back to school next week and were starting back to school bedtimes (ugh!)....lol What time are your kids going to bed this year on school nights? What time are they going to bed on weekends (that is if yours has a bedtime on the weekend...lol). It seems like the summer break had just started!

Jordyn doesn't exactly have a bedtime during the school year. She goes straight from school to gymnastics practice and is in gymnastics until 9:00. We live 2 minutes from the gym, so on a good night with no homework its home, dinner and a shower, in bed by 10:00. Depending on the homework load its 10:30 or 11:00. On Wednesday when she doesn't have gymnastics I try and have her in bed by 9:30 at the latest so she can get that little extra sleep. On the weekends we play it by ear depending on what's going on, if she has a competition, etc.

I'm so glad you posted this! I was wanting to ask the same thing and came to this board (by the way, I am new to this board) and found this post - so thank you! My dd (who is 13.5 yo) is going into the 8th grade next week and I have moved her bedtime to 9:30 at night. However, prior to that, it's always been between 8 and 9 p.m. She gets up at 6 a.m. every morning for school and this year her school is beginning 10 minutes earlier than last year. On weekends she goes to bed pretty much whenever she wants, however, she knows that she has to get up early to help care for our animals.

Hugs,
Trac~ :)

Here's my brilliant idea: don't enforce a bedtime, but insist that they get up at the time they would normally need to to catch their bus. This is what I'll be trying starting on Monday. (They start school on Sept 4, so I have a week to succeed.

The setting a bedtime thing isn't working for us, so I hope my new tactic will be better at resetting everyone's body clock (mine included!) I'll let you all know....

Last week before school starts -- so she has already started getting up early. On the bus for 8 a.m. For a 13 yr old she is great kid :)
Summer did go by way to fast; hopefully fall will be a little slower :)

Frankly, the amount of homework determines her bedtime. She is usually up until 9:30-10, and she has to get up at 6:00.

Alex goes to bed around 9:30-10:00 on weeknights and 11:00-12:00 on weekends.

Evan (5th grade) goes to bed between 9:00 and 9:30, reads for awhile (30 minutes or so) and gets up at 7:30. Megan (2nd grade) goes to bed at 8:30 (on a good night) and gets up at 7:45. I stagger them so they don't bug each other at breakfast... :)

sounds like Caitlyn...I'm trying to let her stay up later and have more freedom (and responsbility). We only have house dogs (2 are mine, 2 are DH's bird dogs) What kind of animals do you have?

Hi June Marie! We have 4 Golden Retriever dogs and 8 new Golden Retriever Pups and a new 11 week old kitten. :) They are not hard to care for - just time consuming is all. The only inside animal we have is the kitten. The others stay in their kennels at night and are out during the day (during summer at least).

Hugs,
Trac~ :)
