bedtime...?

My stepkids, ages 13,11 and10, are spending the weekend us. Last night we all went to bed at 11pm. Or so we thought. At 3am we woke up to them watching tv, playing video games, and getting snacks. My dh did not act as if this was a big deal. I was schocked! The 11 year old told me, "It's the weekend, there is no bedtime!" I guess this is how it goes at their mom's house. Does this sound normal to any of you? Maybe I am just an old

This is not normal, IMO. Kids this age should have a regular bedtime, even on the weekends. My 3 kids are in bed by 9pm at the latest on school nights, and 10pm on the weekends. I think it makes it harder during the week if they go to bed so late on the weekends.
Also, your DH may be having some guilty feelings over the divorce, so he's being too permissive with them when they come over. I'm in a blended family as well, so I know about this type of permissiveness when the parent feels guilty towards the kids.
My DH's God-daughter's mother doesn't have a very good bedtime schedule, so she tends not to do very well in school, and I think it has a lot to do with letting her stay up late and sleep in late. In your situation, you may not have much control over what he does with his kids.
Good luck, though. I know how it feels!

Our norm is that our girls 8 and 12 are sent to bed about 8pm.
