Just a quick question/poll about your 10-14 summer sleep habits. Do you allow your kids to stay up late at night and sleep late in the morning. What about you-are your sleeping habits different in the summer than other times of year. Just curious what is going on at other houses!

Yes, Aly goes to bed later & wakes up later in the summer. I'm a teacher, so I'm off and I do the same.

Because I work full-time our schedule doesn't change that much except for a couple of week. When we are home and have nothing happening, she usually goes to bed around 11:00 - 11:30 (would stay up until 2:00 if I let her) and then gets up around 10:30 (she loooooves to sleep). At her Dad's she goes to bed around 11:00 and gets up around 9:30. But when she has summer camp we are out of the house by about 7:45 and home at 5:30 so she has to be in bed by 10:00 or 10:30 to get up in the morning.
It really varies for us because of the wacky schedule. Next week she's home with me Mon - Wed, then at her Dad's Thurs and Fri. So she'll get to sleep in some more next week but then its two weeks of summer camp, so early to bed, early to rise.
Yes, they stay up late at night (usually until around 11:30 or midnight) and sleep late in the morning. Ds awakens around 8:30 - 9:00 while dd usually gets up around 10:30. I'm sleeping a little bit later in the morning, too, and getting up around 7:00 or 7:30. It's nice and relaxed....it's summer and we don't have anywhere we have to go :).

My 13 old Ds stays up after the rest of us go to bed, but usually puts himself to bed by 11:30 or so. If he doesn't have to be up for basketball, he typically gets up between 10-10:30 a.m.
My 10 year old Ds has to go to bed when I do, mostly because I don't trust him to get himself to bed yet. He is usually in bed around 10:00-10:30 and gets up around 8:30-9:00.
I am a school nurse and don't work in the summer. During the school year, I am up by 6:00, but during the summer, I stay up later and usually sleep in until between 7-8 or so.

My son is a night owl, year round.
My kids are going to bed around 9:30- 10:00 ( a half an hour later than school days)
They are up by 8:00 almost every morning.
They are on Swim Team so they have to be there at 9:00.
I am sleeping in about an hour 7:00.
My oldest has to be up at 6 am during school so I love summer!
We are also an early morning family so I don't let them sleep past 10: am unless they are sick.
They stay up a little later.
At the moment Jordyn is in Michigan staying with my parents and she tends to stay up quite a bit later and sleep in in the mornings, but the last few months she has had problems sleeping, so even if she gets into bed early she can't seem to fall asleep.
When she gets back to Texas she will be going to bed earlier, closer to school times, around 10:00-10:30 because she has to be at gymnastics practice at 8:00 every morning. I personally do not change my bedtime routine in the summer normally, but this year with an infant we're still adjusting life in general.
