Evan will be 11 at the end of November. I'm just taking a poll here. What's your budget for your tween's birthday? Do/did they have a party after elementary school or just get together with friends or maybe spend it with their family (*gasp*)?

In Middle school Connor would have a few friends over.

Last year we took Daisy and a friend into Seattle and had dinner at a nice fondue restaurant and spent the night at a nice hotel.

Budget? We're supposed to have a budget? LOL Kristen had her 12th last year with friends, we'll see what works this year. I kind of follow her lead. It usually ends up being about $200 because I don't do home parties. I'm trying to convince her to just invite a couple of girls and go out for dinner and movie but I'll go with the flow.

Well... for 10, we went camping and took 3 of his friends with us. This year (11), we just did a family party, and will probably do that for 12 as well. I don't think we'll do more than a sleepover at least until 13. I'd rather leave the 'good stuff' for the 'big' birthdays.

Once elementary school is over, I think it's fine to do a smaller scale celebration, with just the few closest friends where you can spend the money on something costlier like taking the bday kid and 2 or 3 friends to the water park or a sport event.

For our dd's thirteen birthday she had a sleepover and a party/barbecue at the beach. It's kinda spendy but we she's our only one. Why not?
