Quite the emotional day here... Dh left an hour or so ago for Ethiopia (work, I'll explain more in another post if I get a chance). He'll be gone for 3 weeks. In a few minutes we're leaving for Evan's swim meet. If he can cut 1.2 seconds off his 50 meter breaststroke time we're headed to the state age group championships the 27th-29th. Wish him luck and pray the weather holds out. The meet is outside and they're predicting t-storms. Lightning = no meet = no chance to qualify and this is his last chance for this year. It's overcast now but not threatening...
Well... we got there, the meet started and they got through the first 8 events and then it started to thunder and lightening. They had to cancel and Evan's big event was the very next one!!! Guess it wasn't in the cards. :( All around just not the best day in our household. We're having pizza and a movie (Johnny English) to soothe the disappointment. Next season I know to schedule him in more meets earlier in the season.
Thanks... In terms of Evan's results... I have none to give. The meet got started and they got through the first 8 events before it started to thunder and lightening (and the angels are still bowling at 11:00 pm) which means it's not safe for anyone to be in the outdoor pool. Poor kid was scheduled in event 9, the very next event. The sad thing is he probably won't be this close for another two years. He's at the top of his two-year age group now and in November he'll move up to the 12 & unders which means my scrawny little just turned 11-year old will be competing against some going through puberty-almost-13-year-olds. Not that he can't do it, but it's going to be a lot harder. This was by far the best shot he'll ever have. I'm sure God has a plan with all of this. I just wish he'd clue me in.
Oh well, on to the next thing. Tomorrow we're going to the Children's Museum downtown (Chicago) where Evan and a friend of his have world globes on display. Friday the same friend is having a going away party and then we're going to get the Harry Potter book if I can find a sleepover for Megan. She's too little to stay up until midnight...
After all that we're painting his room and then he leaves for camp for 3 weeks on 7/29.
Ok Caroline. When I came home and checked the Food Network website, I was surprised to say the least, since DH, Kayleigh and I all thought Rory was going home and I believed Amy was going to win!

Go Evan! Go!
Sorry to hear your DH will be gone for awhile. Praying that the time passes quickly.

Hope tomorrow is a better day.
Well I am a little late for morning although I was up at 3 a.m. and am strangely not tired.
