Mindy your post scared me, the way it was worded I thought maybe they had changed the day and I had missed the finale! I went right over to the foodnetwork site to check and make sure. I am hoping Rory does not win, I really like Amy.
This was our first year watching it, so i didn't have the background from last year. But I agree, Jag has awesome cooking talent but definately too up and down for tv. I had DVR'ed it originally this week and accidentally saw a commercial afterwards telling you to vote for Amy or Rori, so when I went and watched it and Amy was sent home i was so stunned. I had figured they'd send Rori home of the 3, I thought Amy had done the best overall that episode. I wish he had explained it, but I don't quite understand why Jag would have lied about being deployed to Afghanistan, the culinary school maybe, but do you think it really had any impact on him getting picked for the show by saying he had been deployed?
They really didn't go into it a lot, but apparently after Amy was eliminated, which was a few months ago, I'm not sure if Rory and Jag were doing press for the show or what exxactly, but they said that Jag was questioned about his service in Afghanistan and graduating culinary school and that there were rumors that he hadn't done either. So they called him in for a meeting and he admitted that he didn't graduate culinary school and although he had served oversees in various different places he never served in Afghanistan. So because he didn't want any bad press for the Food Network he was effectively taking himself out of the competition.
I agree with you on how Amy would feel, but that's the only thing about this show, the viewers don't have any say til the very end. They may like Rory for whatever reasons, bur the viewers will be the ones tuning in to watch the shows and I personally don't see myself watching a show that Rory hosted.

Yeah, I wasn't here to see the show. I was actually in our room at the resort at the time the show aired, but we didn't get food network!
