Happy cleaning day here. BLAH!!! I've got a ton of laundry, already did some ironing. After I check some boards and my e-mail I am going to sort through Kristen's drawers and closet with her and see what we can get rid of before winter. We might go and see the Mr. Bean movie later. I can't believe its only 11:21. Seems we've been sleeping in so late on days off this summer normally we'd just be having breakfast now. LOL We were pooped after wandering around the gardens in Montreal yesterday so turned in at 10:00 and got up at 8:30. Getting revved up for tomorrow, first day of school.

Well, we were all supposed to go to my sister-in-laws house for a BBQ but, my 10 year old woke up sick. So, Alisha and I are staying home while Jimmy and the rest of the girls have gone there. (Secretly, I am glad that I'm not going - issues, you know - long story) Needless-to-say, Nikki and I went to the store to pick up a couple of things and sent them on their merry way. I will try to get a couple of things done while they are gone. Mainly my sewing room because I have to dig out the dance shoes as dance starts tomorrow for Abby and I. I also need to clean out my pantry. It is such a disaster. I suppose, I have my work cut out for me.

I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your day. Take care everyone and I wish you all a blessed day.

Good morning, set down your coffee and let me vent! I know, I know, we always seem to have some drama over here, but this time it's for REAL!!!!

DH and I took our min. schnauzer and our yorkie for a walk around the neigbhorhood yesterday morning. Nice casual stroll around the lake. He starts climbing on some fake rocks at the edge of the lake and of course the dogs follow. They have long hair and had been pulling out stickers and getting them caught in their mouths...so when I saw Rascal the Yorkie making that kind of motion with his mouth, I called him over to check. OMG he had two foot of fishing line coming out of his mouth...he swallowed a freaking fishing hook! We thought it was in the back of his throat by the way he was foaming and hacking but we couldn't see it. Common sense told us NOT to pull the fishing line. DH RAN home, got the car and we were off..trying to find an emergency vet clinic. We had ONSTAR so we called them, explained we had a vet emergency. We got the SLOWEST woman ever on the line, she kept talking and wouldnt' dial the dang number. I finally hung up on her and called information myself.

We got to the doggy hospital where they met us at the door, whisked him right back. They tried mildly sedating him but he wouldnt' cooperate. They drugged him more and took x-rays. The hook was halfway down his throat! They couldn't handle it there so they sent us across Denver to another animal hospital that could.

We arrived at the second hospital where they called in a specialist who used an endoscope to go down his throat. They had prepared us for the worse, perforated esophagus, punctured lungs/heart, the works. They may have to do surgery if this has happened. I'm ready to make the BAD DECISION when hubby steps up and says do what they need to do...save him. I'm bawling my eyes out over how much it's gonna cost and he tells me that Rascal is a member of our family and he's not losing him over a fish hook.

We had to leave him there but in about an hour they called to tell us that not only had they gotten the hook out, it had never perforated any tissues and was in fact lying in his stomach when they went for it! They were able to turn it around and remove it right back through his throat with no damage!

I cried harder than when my son broke his shoulder!

Rascal came home last night, I have the wicked cool x-ray and a $2000 fishing hook and line in a pill bottle....

OMG!!!!!!!

I'm happy to hear that your little puppy is better. I hope you are better, too. Such a traumatic experience for everyone.

Holy crap Denise. You must have been frantic. How scary to be faced with making that choice. $2000 is plenty I can only imagine if they needed to do something more invasive. Guess you'll be keeping a close eye on him during walks. Animals can be so dumb sometimes. If its pokey don't touch it. Sigh. Hope today is far less eventful for you.
