The DYK thread got me thinking...

We shall see what is considered "cool" this year. LOL That seems to be very important, to fit into the middleschool mold.

But in the past, she likes wraps with chicken and cheese, etc.

She will generally not eat a bread sandwich but likes them on roles.

I will heat a piece of pizza or a burrito in the morning and wrap it in foil and she is content to eat luke-warm food and its still fine by lunch.

She will also eat canned pasta or leftover pasta that is room temperature.

She did have a thermos for soup or stew but I'm pretty sure that will be uncool this year.

Crackers, cheese and some sausage although she never quite considers this "lunch". LOL

Its going to be a challenge for us this year. She gets very bored with the same things over and over but because she has no access to a microwave it harder to prepare things. I guess we'll just have to wing it.

First of all, start buying other breads like hoagie rolls, onions rolls, etc... Second, instead of lunchmeat I buy buffalo chicken strips, those breaded round chicken patties, etc. They bake em in the morning and they're room temp by lunch but still okay. Ranch dressing, bbq sauce, etc mix up the flavors. My daughter likes pasta salads, japanese noodle dishes. Salads too like you mentioned. In the winter leftover chili stays warm in a thermos and they can pour it over fritos in a tupperware container at lunch. Chef Boyardee canned stuff is a hit with my daughter as well in the thermos.

I'll have to try those chicken strips or patties for Kristen's lunch. She gets tired of lunch meat and is not big on sandwiches in general but that might make it more interesting.
