Ian (8) likes any kind of lunchmeat and any kind of cheese other than American so sandwiches are never, ever a problem for him!

Kayleigh is pickier about lunch because she doesn't like lunchmeats or cheese.

No condiments in our house either Joy. Except ketchup and BBQ sauce. LOL Neither Kristen nor I eat mustard or mayo. She just eats it dry. I find if you put some cheese on something and nuke it the cheese melts and acts like a condiment to hold it all together.

I wish Kristen would eat salad. She won't touch anything that resembles lettuce, tomatoes (you'd think I was trying to poison her) or any of that stuff. Sigh.

Others mentioned it as well, but thermoses are great for packing something hot, like soup, mac and cheese, or even leftover casserole, etc.

Connor (13) always brings a lunch. I don't allow him to eat school lunches or pre-packaged foods if I can help it.

I usually make him:

Egg salad on wheat, Tuna salad on rye, occasionally lunch meat but it's very rare, grilled cheese with parsley on sourdough, avacado sandwhiches, meat loaf sandwhich, beef stew, chili, fried chicken, roasted tomato soup, pumpkin soup, barely bake etc.. When I cook I always make enough to prepare two extra plates. These are then frozen in glad containers and dh and ds use them for their lunches later in the week. I just heat up what needs to be before hand and I pack it in an insulated container or thermos. *Invest in the good stuff, it's worth it when they open it up and it's still hot.

I always pack him a salad to go with.

He also always has a yogurt with fresh berries or peaches and a piece of fruit.

Treats which are rare but I do try to work one in on Fridays every other week or so.... homemade granola, apple turnovers, scones with homemade jam, or oatmeal raisin cookies.

Connor drinks water with his lunch.
