Our sidedoor knob has been so hard to open for years, especially in the winter. I asked & asked Allen to replace it. He wouldn't, instead he would just lube it up or spray graphite in it. (BTW...grease & graphite don't mix...makes a mess!) Last night, Quinn & I could barely get the door opened. So...I went out this morning & bought a new door knob. I just installed it all by myself! It took me about 45 minutes (would have been less if my mother hadn't have been sitting at my desk talking to me). The hardest part was getting the last 2 screws started on the inside knob backplate (I don't know the technical name). Now I have to get some new keys made.
The reason I said that grease & graphite don't mix is because when I took the old one off, the inside was a gooey mess of gunk. No wonders the damn thing wouldn't work.

Woohoo! Go you! Go you!
