I have an 11 yr old son who seems like he is starting to withdrawal. He is into video games and internet,he never wants to go anywhere or do anything he also is wanting to quit baseball with only 5 games left.He has been picked on alot this year middle school 6th grade. He feels like he doesnt fit in .I mean he has some friends but he just does not want to be at school. He will not stand up for himself at all he just takes whatever anyone does to him and it is driving me crazy.HE does feel hopeless at times but then some days he seems like he is fine.HE has talked about wanting to die before about 2 wks ago.My question is when and how do you get them to go to see a doctor ?His Father and him has not gotten along for a long time (he is strict and harsh)and my son is always saying how he hates him and he wishes I would divorce him.HE is starting to develop anger outburst somewhat frequently.I cant hardly seep at night for worrying about my son.Should I call his doctor to be referred to someone for him and just not tell him about it?oh and i need to make a decision about baseball before tomorrow night about him quitting (also being harassed by a teammember)any input

((HUGS)) to you and your son... I just want to say, if you are at all considering going to a therapist -- GO. You have nothing to lose. Probably every person in America could benefit from therapy! We took my youngest son to a counselor for anxiety and anger issues, and it was very helpful, even though it was only for a short time and he was only 6 at the time. Sometimes it just helps you, as the parent, to come up with some tools to help your son, and to have someone to be accountable to in following their recommendations.
I agree with the others - please take him to talk to someone. :)
Keep us posted
Speaking as the parent of a teen who suffers from anxiety disorder-nos with a depression componant, you tell him that you are seeking help for him and that's that.
