You can find out a lot! Evan didn't have school today but did have swim practice so after I picked him up I took him to Urban Outfitters (clothes are fine, books and other stuff, totally inappropriate. He knows how I feel and doesn't go anywhere near the stuff. He never goes in the store alone). On the way over we were talking about the upcoming Conference swim meet and the remaining two or three weeks of the season. He says, "oh, yeah Sunday we're dying our hair blonde and a week from Tuesday we're shaving it off." I knew it was coming 'cause it's part of the team culture but I'm not sure I'm ready to see his beautiful brown hair blonde. I had to bribe him with Starbucks to let me take a picture when the time comes. LOL! They've also got a Turnabout dance in a few weeks (of course he couldn't give me the exact date) and he's said nothing to me about it. Today I finally asked if the guys were going and he said, "of course, only losers don't go to Turnabout.". When I asked if he was going he said he was going with a girl named Erin. I've heard him mention her before once or twice but nothing major here. They're going with a group and sharing a limo (what?!) for the evening. Of course I'm thinking do we need to get her a corsage, what color should it be, wrist or pin, what should he wear and does he have appropriate clothes that fit, etc, etc. Can he answer these questions? No. Am I surprised? No. Guess I'll have to keep asking until I get the information I need. I'm a planner and he is definitely NOT. He's definitely a teenage boy. Stay tuned for more!

I was a little worried about dress code, etc. but apparently it's a long standing team tradition. No worries, they're shaving it off by Friday anyway! LOL! I had to bribe him with Starbucks to let me take a picture of the blonde hair. :)

Its nice that they can do this as a team bonding thing if they want too. Jordyn said the baseball team did the bleaching of hair last year for playoffs and they got in trouble (and were threatened suspension) for it because they dyed their hair "an unnatural color" which is against dress code...

That's so exciting! I wondered how the moms of boys dealt with the whole bleaching the hair during the finals meets! Good luck to Evan! One of the coaches I used to work with would bleach right along with the boys! Love it when a coach goes with the flow!!!

So exciting on the dance too. I'm scared for that next year! Our babies are growing up! I have no advise on that since I'm not even there yet!

Car rides are when Jordyn and I have had our best conversations. We've always been close, so it wasn't hard to get info out of her, but much smaller stuff comes out in car rides. Glad you had a nice chat with him and found out a bunch of stuff.

I just remembered, when #1 was a freshman her date's mom (he is now her boyfriend of more than 2 years) called me to ask about colors and flowers.

When Gabby went to Homecoming her dates mom called Gabby and asked what color flowers she wanted and what color tie Grant should wear and so n.As for the limo they were not able to get one and itis kindof expensive.Sinc eDale travels he ended up getting a huge SUV that held 10 people and we drove them.Although Gab is in 10th grade and she went with her "boyfriend' so it was not weird having his mom call.Gabby has a nosegay.I would go with a wrist if you are getting a courage becauseif teh dress is strapless or has sequins you would ruinit with a reg coursage, Guess you won't getthe color of his "dates" dress out of him????
