Crazy 12 yr old female b'ball nut!

I know others on here have daughters who play basketball so I know you will empathize with me. This is DD first year playing basketball ever. She in 7th grade. She has fractured her left ankle 3 times in the past 2 years. No, I'm not joking - sadly. lol! First time on the trampoline, then walking across the yard twice. She sprained her right ankle just 2 months ago during volleyball season but it was mild and only missed one game.
During this past Monday night's game she turned her left ankle but still managed to get the rebound and score. Yea! But she limped back down the court so

Simple -- she can't play if she doesn't dress for the game. Hide her uniform.
Honestly, as long as the coach is aware he/she should require medical clearance (note from the doctor) before allowing your daughter to play or practice again. Be sure and tell your daughter that the reasons why you do not compete when you have a real injury are (a) it is easier to reinjure the same area as it is not yet fully healed, and (b) you can hurt something knew as you try and compensate for the injured area.
My suggestion would be that she sit on the bench and be an informal "asst. coach". Bring a notebook or clipboard and do things like try to diagram the other team's plays, including inbounds plays. Listen for the call of the play -- write it down and then sketch "x"s for the opposing players with arrows for where they go. It's not easy to do but it will keep her head in the game as you have to pay close attention.
OUCH! Poor girl! I hope she heals quickly.
I have a 12 year old son that lives, sleeps, eats basketball too so I totally understand!
That looks like it hurts. And she wants to play?? HOW???
that poor child. I am sure it not that painful but wow. I use to do that though. My foot swells bad. golf ball size.
Ouch that does look painful; hope it doesn't hurt as bad as the bruising is. Better to stay off the ankle so it can heal completely esp given her previous injuries. My philosophy w/both my girls is neither plays hurt -- I don't care what the coach says we (i.e. the parents) have the last word. Far better to err on the conservative side then have an serious injury that will prevent playing sports ever again.
Hopefully once your dd calms down emotionally she realizes this is logical & for HER benefit not because u don't want her to play. Coaches go on the kids feedback so u might want to tell him the dr (i.e. medical reasons) specifically said she cannot play no matter how good she says she feels. Just as a precaution I'd do that so that he doesn't get silly ideas to let her sway him ;-)

Ick! Does it hurt her???
My daughter is the Queen of Jammed fingers. 3 times this season already. Luckily all 3 times there was time between games to heal.
My daughter loves basketball too. She loves to watch U of Illinois play.
