Does it count as a vent if you knew your DH wasn't going to do anything and then confirmed that they didn't do anything? I'm not really venting, I knew he wouldn't do anything, he emailed like 2 weeks ago and said he really couldn't because he was at a really small base, blah blah blah, he has plenty of time to check email, do correspondence courses for his promotion, etc., I told him he has internet access, you can order ANYTHING over the internet, but he came up with a few excuses. So I knew nothing was coming, but you know, it'd be nice if once he could bother to take the extra step and surprise me, you know since he has missed my birthday, christmas, etc.

Okay, you can bash me now for complaining and my DH is deployed and how he is serving our country, I shouldn't worry about presents, blah blah, I hear it enough as it is. Yes I'm moody, not necessarily because of V-day, just in general.

Well I'd posted yesterday that DH took the day off and we spent the morning out, visiting our favorite Thai place for a quick lunch..yum! He DID have to go into work for a conference call and spent the afternoon at work...but he didn't get home until 7pm! Wouldn't have been a big deal but he KNEW he was grilling steaks requested by the kids for a Valentine's Dinner for all of us. I guess the extra marinating worked because even though we ate late those steaks were the best we've ever had! The kids were totally excited about the mini heart shaped cakes I made and decorated for each of them as well. So it was a food centered evening, finished up with our favorite Caramel Apple Martinis and American Idol!

My kind of holiday..food and celebrated at home! HAHA!!

Well I don't know what came over my Dh but my god he really went out of his way and did awesome!

I have been bragging at how he called me on Monday and told me not to plan anything for V-day as he made reservations for us at our favorite restaurant!

((hugs)) I'm sorry you're dh lacks thoughtfulness. I'm not going to bash you at all. Yes, he is serving the country and that is admirable, but he could have sent a love letter via email...anything to acknowledge his love and feelings for you. I think you have every right to be moody and emotional. It stinks that it's not just this occasion that he's missed....I'm seeing a pattern. I think you should do something very special for yourself, you deserve it! ((hugs))

Well, as always I have a brag about dh. He's such a wonderful person in general so it's no surprise that he would be extra romantic. I had to work last night until around 9 so the night before we went out to dinner. I had told him that it would be really nice to get a romantic letter for v day and that's what he gave me. He wrote me the most beautiful poem and printed it on paper with my picture faded in the background with various v day graphics. The title is, "my eternal balance".....so I was pretty taken back by the actual words of it. I bought him a bottle of wine, and a few other small goodies. When I got home last night, we had a glass of wine and snuggled up. It was really a very nice valentine's day!

Well, we're not big into Valentines Day. DH usually gets me flowers or chocolates. I told him this year NO CHOCOLATES please. (but if you do make sure they're dark chocolate!LOL) He's out of town, coming home today and said he did get me something. I'm thinking it's a Hershey's Dark chocolate bar. That would be OK. ;-)

The kids and I had a romantic dinner at Culver's after Hannah's basketball practice.
