So Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is in theaters - have you and/or your family seen it yet?

We're taking Sam and 4 friends to see it Sunday, as an early birthday party. I've just re-read the book. I wanted it fresh in my mind for the movie, because it's my favorite of the series. I love HP!

BTW- new name? Maybe you've posted about it. Haven't caught up yet...

Saw it Sunday - own the books on CD, read them aloud to the family as well...yes, we're Harry nuts. Comments on the movie - didn't like Lupin's morphed form, didn't think they did justice to getting to know him enough. Didn't see enough of Ron or McGonagall. Missed the tiff between Crookshanks and Scabbers. Liked the new Dumbledore (like him anyway from Mystery! days). Noticed a new Goyle (or was it Crabbe?!). Hated Malfoy's hair. Loved Buckbeak's animation, and they did a good job with the time turner. Found Harry's and Hagrid's crying a bit phony.

But overall, truly, I thoroughly enjoyed it...other than it was too short! I'd love to be able to get a DVD with a 'longer' version, like you can on LOTR...

I took Sam and 3 friends to see it yesterday. The boys enjoyed it. I did too! Definitely worth seeing. Since I'd just reread the book and remembered a lot of the detail, I was curious how much is lost when you haven't read the book. Did anyone see the movie who hasn't read the book? What did you think?

I was impressed with the discussion the boys had after the movie. What was left out that they thought was important (a couple wanted more about the quidditch games ;-), how Hermione had a bigger part in the movie than the book (I think because she figures prominently in the climax, which wasn't left out of the movie ;-), and other thoughtful issues.

Is this your first time through the books?
