text message. I was reading an article in the Sunday paper about how a girl was texting/talking on her cell phone right before a crash that killed her and 5 of her friends. Did you see the news on this accident? I'll have to search for it. brb

Once in a while but not regularly. Its usually a case of me being in a traffic jam or just crawling and phoning someone to say I'm going to be late. Occassionally Kristen phones me on my way home but its usually a short conversation "Where are you?" "Just by the college, home in 5 min." "okay" End of call. I would NEVER attempt to text while driving. As someone said I can barely do it when concentrating 100% on it, let alone driving at the same time.

It was a tragic waste what happened to those kids. So preventable but teens are invincible. Or so they think.

I admit that I DO talk on the phone, but NO TEXTING!!! I agree that it's hard to do when focusing, much less driving! I have a bluetooth as well because I drive my son's car alot and it's a stick shift!

they are passing a law in the state of WA that you can't be on your cell and drive. You can use the bluetooth but not hold and dial the phone.

I'll talk on the phone...usually I don't have to dial, because I'm calling Mike and if I hit the green button, he's usually the first name that pops up because he's usually the only one I call....lol. But it's not just to hold a conversation...it's for a purpose.

I wouldn't be able to text, but I have suspended text messages on my phone because I was tired of accidentally hitting read when I was trying to delete without reading and it kept costing me 10¢ every time *I* messed up.

I read and saw the news story and this was my impression of what happened....not that I'm taking her side or taking the side of cell phones...or even saying that I KNOW this is what happened...just my guess. I think someone else was texting using her phone. She was passing someone (who became a witness) at 85 mph when she ran too far off the road, then overcorrected and hit the truck. Honestly, I think it was more of a distraction of friends (probably laughing/talking about what was being texted), going too fast, and not in a good place to pass (she started the pass in a passing lane, but it turned into a no-pass lane before she passed the witness). If she could be driving that fast, doing all that, and texting, (well she COULD have been), but I'm doubting that was the case.

I wouldn't be opposed to a no-cell phone law here. I think it's an unnecessary distraction.
