do you pay them?
DH wants to pour a sidewalk at the side of our house. He is having me move the bricks that are there now. Yuck! I'm working my butt off. There must be 1,000 bricks.

Anyway, Hannah is having a friend come over today. She asked if she could have another friend come over tomorrow. DH told her that she needs to help with the sidewalk. She gave us this funny look like, "who me!" I don't work.

Just thought I'd share that she's working tomorrow and she's going to be so darn happy about it.

I wouldn't pay her. Mine doesn't simply because our rental company does all of our yard work. But hey, ask her who is paying you to do it. That is part of being in the family. She gets paid in food, housing, clothes, a computer in her room, camp trips away, a 2 weeks vacation in Arizona, I think she "owes" you on that one.

I never pay my kids for helping around our house, they are expected to help because we all work together to make things run smoothly around here.

Well, we just moved to our house(8months ago) and dh doesn't live here, but he does do the yard work(when he must, during the spring/summer months) but since we have just moved here, all my dh has done is mow the lawn........

sooooooo, when dh moves here permanetly, we may put in sidewalks and change bushes and chop trees and plant new ones and all that lovely outside stuff....LOL

You bet my kids help in the yard. Dd was volunteering with a younger scout troop, all day, came home mowed the lawn and then helped me clean up some stuff from the yard. Ds went for an 8 mile bike ride with my mom, came home and swept off the grass clipping right away with out being told. Both kids will help tomorrow most the day. They get an allowence, but not for regular work, it is for their spending money.

DH and I just decided to do it yesterday. :)
She's never been expected to help in the yard
DH does most of it. It is something he enjoys doing.
She's happy to help out for a couple of hours after church today. :)
