Does your tween(s) do overnight camp?

I know its a bit early to be thinking about summer camp, but last night DD was looking up riding camps on the net. There are about 3 not too far from us, about 3 hours (although she wasn't too thrilled with the one that said vegetarian cuisine LOL). She has NEVER wanted to go to an overnight camp and I think it would be good for her, my questions is what about price? These camps are anywhere from $500 - $750/week. I know that horses are expensive to maintain so I'm not sure that is why they are more expensive or not. I know someone who sent her DD to a general interest camp nearby and it was $1200 for two weeks.
I would love to be able to send her, but I don't know. That is my whole budget pretty much for summer daycamps. I would still need another $450 on top of that. Anyway, just curious what overnight camps cost out there in the wide world.
Thanks.

Caitie doesn't, but my 12yo sister went for the first time last summer. It was a 1-week horseback riding camp. It was a Christian camp, and even though we're not a really religious family at all, she enjoyed it. I'm sure it says the price somewhere here on the website.

I went to a 2-week overnight camp when I was 12yo and it was $1000.

I do think it is a really good experience though.

Kayleigh went to sleepaway camp this past summer after asking for two years.

My son spent a week at a Christian Service camp this summer. The cost was $75 but we had to get him there (20 hour car ride each way).
I'm looking into some closer to home for this year(maybe 3 hours away or so) but they average $500 and up. I definatly want to send him again. It was a great experience for him.

Overnight camps cost around 700 a week for the "extreme" camps. You know, rope courses, river rafing, stuff like that.
Horse camp is very expensive here. I remember sending Hannah to day camp for a week and it cost me 600.
Both of mine went for the first time this last summer.

When I insist that I am 'right," I slam the door of my mind. I remain locked in past
Both of my sons have been to overnight camp just this past summer.
My eldest (age 12) went to a premier basketball camp about 5 hours away. About 8 boys from his team went also and they stayed in dorms. It was on a college campus and they were there from Sunday through Wednesday. I don't remember the exact price but somewhere around $400.00 which included instruction, room, and board.
My youngest (age 10) went to 4-H camp. The state camp is only about 10 minutes from us and he stayed in a cabin with 7 other boys and a counselor. He was friends with 2-3 of the boys from church and school. He did the mini-camp since it was his first overnight experience and was gone 2 Sunday-Tuesday. It was somewhere around $100-125.
I know my oldest wants to go back to basketball camp this next summer, but not sure what the youngest wants to do.
I'm not sure if he'll go this summer or not. Depends on if I find a good job around here. I've been offered an awesome job in Florida. If I take it, we'll be moving summer 2007.
I would love to be able to afford the Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama for him one of these days. He would love it!
He loves to go to camp & has talked about when he's in high school & college becoming a counselor.
Meredith went to horse camp through Girl Scouts last summer and it was $275 for the week (Sunday night through Friday night).
Tam, that sounds about right for overnight camp. Rach went to a basketball overnight last summer & it was $425 for Sun-Thur. The girlfriend she went with went to another camp for 2 wks that cost about $1200, it was in WV.
This coming summer I'm thinking about sending my two to an overnight lacrosse camp -- they take 8 yo so I'd send both of mine together. Its about 1.5 hrs away & they have other activities as well.
