last night! He had went to his friend's house, 3 houses away. He came back about an hour later and asked if he could spend the night there. The boys were in and out a couple times getting all his stuff and finally he was there for the night,(we thought!) DH and I went to bed around midnight and at 1AM, we were woken up by someone pounding on the front door. It was DS!!!! He had woken up and felt sick at his stomach so he woke his friend and told him that he was coming home. They didn't wake his parents or anything, He just walked home. Granted it isn't very far but what if someone had come along just then and grabbed him??!! Or, if the police cruised thru and saw him out, curfew violation, we all could have been in trouble! Poor kid, he didn't feel well and just wanted to come home but it really freaked us out! We told him that if it ever happened again to wake the parents and have one of them walk him home. What really gets me is that they never even checked on him today to see if he was ok or anything. If I had an child in my house when I went to bed and that child was gone the next morning,I would da** well be sure that they had gotten home ok and apologized profusely. I'm thinking that he won't be spending the night down there anymore!!! I'll let the boy come here but my son isn't staying there! What would they have done if he had gotten snatched last night? Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid but it's a reality of the world we live in!!

Dawn, who's DS is asleep in his own home tonight!!!

No you are not being paranoid!! I would not let my kid stay there either anymore...they should have called to make sure he got home okay. It would make me wonder how they parent if they don't think of calling.

I agree they should have at least called to make sure he got home okay! Thank goodness he got home without any trouble.

Whew! Scary! Glad he's OK. I have one suggestion for you. You should tell DS to call you himself if he ever wants to leave someone's house, to tell you he is on his way home. Rather than rely on the other parents, ds is old enough to know the rule - call before you come home. That way, if it's the middle of the night, you can go meet him at the other house. He probably felt funny about waking the parents.

Shame on the other parents for not calling in the morning.

Forgot to say, I gave him a Mylanta and put him to bed on the couch and he was fine yesterday morning. Thanks!

Oh my! That would have scared me too! And I agree with you, the least they could have done was call and check on him! I think I'd let him go over and play but definitely not to stay the night!

I hope he's feeling all better now and I am glad he's safe!

You know when I have kids over, I don't sleep very well. I tend to stay up pretty late just so I know they are all set and asleep. Of course I don't get much sleep because by the time I get to actually sleep, they are awake already very early in the morning. Anyway, I would hope I would hear if someone left my house.

I can't believe they didn't call. I would just to ease my mind if not to ask how the boy was. Doesn't show much concern.

I would be scared too if someone was banging on my door at 1am! But then I don't have to worry about my son doing this seeing as he's scared to be out at night alone. But I guess I can see my 5 yo doing that at 10.

I wouldn't be letting my son sleep there either.
