DYK Thread for May

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Thanks Tracy!

It takes anywhere from 10-12 hours to fly from New York to Athens

That's one of the reasons we've never taken the kids to meet their relatives, LOL

Thanks Laura!

Greek was my first language

I didn't speak English until I went to kindergarten and learned it in school

It was hard the first few months of kindergarten, not knowing what everyone was saying

Actually, that's not entirely true---I learned to count to 10 in English from watching "Sesame Street" when I was like 3 or 4, LOL

That being said, I don't write in Greek very well

It's a different alphabet

I write Greek with the English alphabet by the way it sounds when I email my cousins or post on their wall on Facebook

I just hope they get what I'm writing

At this point, my English is probably better than my Greek, but sometimes I dream in Greek, and I will even dream that people who DON'T speak Greek, like Michael, are speaking Greek in my dreams

Weird. . .

Yes, we DEFINITELY want to take them soon!

We could fly at night so they could sleep

I went several times as a kid

We want to take them to Italy to meet Michael's relatives, too

There is a chance that if my aunt dies (Which she probably will it looks like :( ) that we will go to the funeral, which will be in Thessaloniki, where my mom grew up

And of course, we will take the kids

I have been discussing that with Michael today on the phone

Big decision I guess. . .

I'm not sure if its because she knows it will hurt, or that she'll get her hand swatted.
