DYK Thread for May

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

DYK he may miss seeing some of the girls but not the coaching part. His team this yr has been like the cardiac kids...he has more beginners which makes it hard for the more advanced girls he has since he has to find a middle ground to keep interest of

Coaching is really a thankless job.Plus I am sure all of the parents who are not offering to help have no problem offering opinions. That would drive me crazy.I figure if you are not willing to help out at all KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT and let the coach do his/her job.

This one is set up that way automatically. In fact, you have to have 6 runners and can't have anyone do more than one leg. However, you can hand off the baton to the next runner and then keep running yourself if you want. My sil and bil did that, she ran 2 legs so she could run with her daughter, and he ran 3 because he wanted to.

There are some serious teams, but then there are teams like us that are just doing it for fun and don't care about time or anything. The first team finished in a little over 2 hours, and then there were some that took 7 hours. We did it in 6 hours 10 minutes.

Thanks! I was really bad about training for it and ended up walking a lot more of it than I had planned. I told dh that I am going to start trying to jog once a week for a while, and eventually add more days in. I want to be able to do this again next year but running the whole time. I know if I don't start slowly now I'll never do it.

DYK yes ur right...that's why I try hard not to be critical of Rach's coach since I understand how hard it is. However this season most of the parental criticism has been w/the administration of the program which DH has no control over & nothing to do with. Some of the parents are upset w/some of the decisions...he calls it a mini rebellion & just lets them vent to him. He is way more patient than I am...however we aren't part of the "insiders" that run the program so we stay quiet too.
