DYK Thread for May

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

it's just because I have to stay.

No student is allowed to stay if their parent is not an employee...they have to leave.

Kids go 180 days here, but 2 are half-days...the last day before Christmas and the last day of school.

Teachers go 185 (paras go 182 days), but we only have to stay after the last day of school..when the kids leave for Christmas, the teachers leave for Christmas. We do NOT have to go for a full day after the last day of school for students this year, though. They extended the kids one more day due to the snow days, but knew it was impossible to extend the teachers to come back the Monday after with such little notice (many teachers already had vacations paid for starting Friday).

that's exactly how we do it (except for this year, only because of the snow days).

We go in Aug 5 & 6, students Aug 7. Then, their last day is a half-day on a Thursday, we stay a full day and go back the Friday.

My room is almost completely ready for summer. I have a few things on my counters that need to be put away, and then things that need to be put on my counter (computer, VCR, computer table, etc), and a few things on & in my desk that I need this week that need to be put in a cabinet, and I have a few things to take home (my stool, my DVD player, my printer..things that are MINE but likely to walk if I leave them at school).
