DYK Thread for April

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Yes he's been there since January. He is already engaged to the girl he met with in a few weeks of being at school.

I ordered the Hurricane on the Bayou DVD. I was going to wait for ACTUAL approval from my principal--I think she gave me approval, but I'm not sure. A local museum was selling it for $28, but I bought it on Books A Million online with my discount card for $18 or $19 and got Aly the last Maximum Ride book at a good discount (42%), and got free shipping.

It was $30.94 total for both the DVD & book.

The DVD alone at the gift shop would've been $28 plus 9+% tax (so about $3), so about $31...LOL.

That IS a cool deal!! WOW!!!

It's actually a club--National Junior Beta Club http://www.betaclub.org

There's a National Beta Club for high school students (I was a member and so was my mom). It's an academic/character/service club. First, you have to have a good GPA determined by the school (our school uses 3.5, but when I was in high school, they required 3.0). You have to maintain that GPA and have good character (can't get suspended, etc), and you have to do service for the community in some way. We sponsor several activities like making Christmas wreaths for a nursing home, goods to be sent to soldiers or to military hospitals, toys for children through the sheriff's office at Christmas time, etc.

We have a 2-day state convention that we will be attending in May.
