DYK Thread for April

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Here, too.....I had a LEGITIMATE reason to open a page when I was student teaching...someone had posted a link to something I needed for teaching SAPE.

Yes, same here a girl got kicked off the cheerleading squad because she posted some pretty risqué; some of the teachers go on and moniture..lol how stupid do u have to be though really to add u'r teacher to u'r friends list...lol (sorry)

I have such mixed feelings about that. One one hand they really can be mean and demeaning, but on the other hand I think we are involving our selves and monitoring everything these kids do ALL THE TIME!! idk it's kinda like the school having cameras at u at all times. I know they r not adults but I think school is school and home is home..If some thing is happening call the police. I don't think it's the schools business or responsiblity.. like i said MIXED feelings am I making sense??? I probably shouldn't be posting .lo

stuff they posted? Or just stuff they found and accessed on the school computers?

For the past 3 years minimum (including beginning of this year), we didn't have access to YouTube at school. However, last week, kids were saying they were watching YouTube 80s videos in other teachers' classes. So I tried earlier this week, and sure enough, we have access now.

Yet, these same teachers were blocked from a non-profit Louisiana art, poetry contest that I had access to and sent them the link of.

some boys at a high school in the district posted a video of a fight on Myspace and got in serious trouble over it.

The problem is the harassment on My Spaces carries over into school, it's a form of bullying and most schools have anti bullying rules, thank goodness.
