DYK Thread for JULY

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

DYK yes well I found out today that one of the subway stations will be closed for the accident investigation so of course that will add at least 15 min to my trip now. I'll have to take a shuttle bus for two stops....looks like its definitely a half day of work for me *eyeroll*

DYK have u thought about getting a dehumidifier? My parents use to have one in their basement & it really helped.

Taking Kass to the doctors again this morning! She's running a fever still and now complaining of her throat hurting! This will be the third time in 2weeks! First swimmers ear last week, sport/school physical Monday and now today! She probably picked up this germ from there anyways! Before last week, she hadnt been to the doctors in at least a year! She never gets sick! My poor baby!

DYK yes there have been West Nile positive mosquitoes here too....at least 3 of the bug traps in the downtown DC area have tested positive for it, never mind the 'burbs where there's usually more bugs.

DYK were u talking about smallpox vaccines last wk? I thought I saw a post...anyway my MIL made a point to tell me that DH is violently allergic to smallpox vaccine. When he got it as a child he got sick from it so severely MIL has never forgotten it. Since he works w/a lot of military guys she wanted to remind him not to get it since there was talk about having service members get it.

and did you hear about the mess in Detroit? I haven't put the news on or looked it up yet this morning. I pray for all involved with it.

we've looked at them in the distant past, but at that point, he put in a room air conditioner (we don't have it anymore--we put in another vent in our room). He likes it COLD in the house (I usually wear flannel pants, but am in shorts today, since I need to go outside whenever they call me for verification on what to cut and what not to cut). So the AC being on 11 months out of the year acts as a dehumidifier.

But since I'm wearing shorts, I have the temp higher and it's not dehumidifying as much.

poor thing.

I have a co-worker with medical issues who keeps her room super-cold (colder than Mike keeps the house!!!), and she said it keeps her healthier because the warmer the room, the more likely to breed germs.

yes, we were talking about the smallpox vaccine. I was born in '74, so I didn't get it.
