DYK Thread for JULY

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

DYK Sandy Point isn't too far from Baltimore where Poe is buried so definitely doable.

DYK we are going to Ocean City the last wk of August for a wk...just to let you know it may be hard to find somewhere to stay during peak summer season for just 2 days. During summer, its quite common to have lots of weekly rentals but less than 3 days is harder. You may want to also check into Fenwick, which is just north or else Rehobeth

We're home from our first day of the garage sale. Made about $35...only spent $4! Aly bought 2 string puppets...she already had one.

I just realized that I was planning to just hand over the money to Aly---but I spent MY money for her puppets, and *I* am the one working tomorrow--not her (she's staying home with Mike).

That doesn't add up....

My 2 "big ticket" items ($10 each) sold immediately. I couldn't fit 3 totes in my first load, so I had to go home after I dropped off the first load. I came back and one person had bought BOTH. One was a kitchen that we got for $6 and sold for $10--that's pretty darn good! The other was a Fisher-Price dollhouse that I probably paid $15 or $20 for, so $10 back is really good.

Anything that doesn't sell tomorrow is being donated. Except for maybe 2 items that I might know someone to pass them on to. I don't know for sure that anybody wants them (a foam giant puzzle hopscotch and a Barbie suitcase), but I'm not going to donate them until I offer them to a couple people.

what's NOT selling that's really surprising me is board games. Board games with all the pieces, and in immaculate condition (I put clear tape on the edges so the boxes wouldn't split..I'm anal like that). Put $1 each on them and did not sell ONE! These are $15-20 games.

Only one person looked at them the entire day and she told her mom that her kids just aren't interested in games.

Really, that is a bit surprising.

I need to go by connect 4 for Emma and I next week. One of the mom's on the April '07 board was talking about how even though they can't really play it the way its supposed to be played yet, its a great way to work on their counting and their taking turns dropping the things in. I was surprised we didn't have one, I thought we had. Maybe it got tossed out in one of the moves or something.
