DYK Thread for JULY
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Lucky on the shoe front here (I think).
She has 2 good belts, too.
We send our school supply lists out with report cards. And this year, I'm buying her school supplies off the list the 7th grade teachers put together. I *already* have an adjustment for next year!!! We put "2 large glue sticks" on the list....1 large glue stick costs $1.98. However, a pack of 2 small glue sticks only costs 30c. So, I bought her 4 small glue sticks for 60c instead of paying $4 for 2 large ones. And I will remember to make that change next year. (It doesn't matter to me what size they have or if they even have their own because I supply them in my classroom when we need them.)
Justice had zebra print bags, but I don't know price or quality. I love the LLBean I bought for Aly last year--we're hoping to use it through 8th grade.
Yes Gina, most all schools around here, public and private have a uniform code. Some more strict than others, and Kass's new school is pretty strict. Her elementary school wasn't to bad, they could get away with quite a bit.
That stinks about the shorts and skorts. Of course, when I was in school, we weren't ever allowed to wear shorts and we didn't have a uniform. But I have students that don't own pants..they wear shorts even on the coldest days (not that we get brutally cold, but cold enough--down to the 20s & 30s on rare days).
The parents voted on uniforms here 2 years before Aly started Kindergarten (85% yes to uniforms...they opened it to all parents K-12), and the year before she started was the first year of uniforms. If they voted on it again, it wouldn't be 85%, but it would probably still be over 50%.
Even though we can get shirts as low as $6 and pants as low as $10 at Academy--where I'm going next week, uniforms are NOT cheap. I don't have time to wash more than once during the school week, so I have to buy a minimum 3 tops and 3 bottoms. And that means a minimum of 6 bottoms, since I buy 3 "short" bottoms (shorts & skorts) and 3 long pants. Then, she mostly wears navy polos, but I have to buy a white for band (previous years, I had to buy a white for Girl Scouts, but that's no longer an issue).
In previous years, I also bought a couple pairs of each type of bottoms one size up. But due to her unusual growth spurt in 5th grade, I can't judge her growth spurts anymore, so I'm not buying ahead this year.
