DYK Thread for JULY

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

so you can't carpool to school or work?

Yes, it's a good law, but that really hinders a lot of kids from social activities.

it is a good law, but it should have some "okays"...not all 16 & 17 year olds (or their parents) can afford to buy a car, and they usually have hours different from their parents, but while their parents are at work. So, therefore they can't have a job to save for college.

It cuts down on teenage accidents though.

like I said...it's a good law...I agree with that. I just think there needs to be "okays" in the law...it's okay during THESE hours or whatever. Definitely not late especially on weekends.

But if a kid (16 or 17) gets out of school at 3, and the parents work until 5, and the kid wants to work from 3-7, that limits where they can work.

Of course, we don't have mass transportation out here..like city buses/trains.

They can drive themselves, they just can't have non relatives under the age of 18 in the car with them.

but what if they don't have a car...that was my point...then they don't have the option of riding with someone else.

It's taking the kids who are already in poverty situations, and pushing them back further...you can't go to work because you can't ride with your friends who happen to have a car.

But it shouldn't be your friend's responsibility to get you to your job.
