DYK Thread for JULY

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

What I did in high school was not my argument for not having the law. (When I was in high school, the age for getting a permit was 14, and the age for getting a license was 15--even though you couldn't get a job until 16...I don't have any problem with the law for both permit or license being 16 now, either). I think it's a good law. I never denied that.

My issue was kids who don't have cars, who share cars with parents/siblings, or who have cars that have broken down. They should be able to carpool to work or school in such instances. Bus is fine if it's available (for school), but for poverty-ridden families who don't have easy access to jobs (or college...if they are still under 18) near home, I think there should be an exception. If two kids happen to work together and live nearby each other, they should be able to carpool if one doesn't have access to a vehicle.

Maybe I just see more poverty. We're considered a poverty school because about 61% of our students are on free lunch.

see..that works for my argument!

1 additional person.

When I was in school, if you didn't take driver's ed (which I took during school--we drove in the summer), you had to get special permission from the school board to get your license.

I didn't know he worked for the Navy...my brother was in Norfolk for 4 1/2 years. He was on the USS Nassau.

It doesn't hurt families because they can drive siblings.
