DYK Thread for JULY

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

I agree. Here they do not enforce it much unless they see a problem. So i would allow Jackie to do it but up to a point. I would have to depend on the situation and who the kids are. I would be cautious... Is it enforced there?

I don't know if it's enforced much, I should ask my brother. I think kids say they are driving their "cousin."

DYK I thought your DH might be Navy since that's the major employer in HR just like in VA Beach. My DH is actually a civilian in the Navy, not military but he works w/lots of military guys. He's actually in a submarine program not aircraft or ships.

We do have a lot of immigrants in Louisiana, mostly from Mexico, but not so much where I teach. When sugar cane fields/houses were more prominent in Louisiana (before NAFTA in the early 90s), a lot of Mexicans came up to work grinding.

I have had 4 ESL students in my 4 years of teaching..2 last year. 3 of the 4 of my students actually spoke better English than Spanish because they were immersed at such a young age. All the ESL students from my school in my 4 years have all been Spanish speakers first.

The Vietnamese tend to be more in the Catholic communities. I know when I taught at the preschool at the church, they had 2 families that came to our preschool.
