DYK Thread for JULY

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Aly got her booster this past spring--at 12. When I was her age, you got it at 10 years after the last one, but since I got it in the summer of '79, once Jan 1989 hit, they said I had to get it immediately or not return to school. ?????? It wasn't 10 years yet, but I got it that Jan.

I thought I got my '99 booster in Jan, but I just pulled up my card (was looking for other stuff), and I went to July of that year before getting it. But I did get it in Feb of this year. Planned to go in Jan (since I thought it had been 10 years in Jan), but HAD to get it when "a panda bit me" at school (the wire cut my finger, but the panda bit me sounds so much better).

If it were still "10 years later", Aly wouldn't have been scheduled to get it until she was 15.

But now 6th grade students (entering this year) have to get it before school starts.

it is a booster that tends to hurt..mine didn't this year, not sure why (although she did tell me to do something while getting it and it will hurt less later--so I guess whatever it was worked, too bad I don't remember what it was).

Mike ended up dropping his car off at the dealership instead of me waiting until the morning (he's third in line). When we got there, he opened the hood & called me over. He has a dead bat near the front of the vehicle in front of the radiator. He was nearly in tears over it--then asks, would she be too upset to come see it? Um, yeah..you're practically in tears and you're going to call your animal-loving daughter over to see it???

Don't know if that has anything to do with his problems, but seriously doubting it. But he did ask me if he thought it was there the last time they looked at it (last Friday), I said I seriously doubt it--it's pretty obvious..it's not tucked away.

I thought they atomatacally took a rubella titer when you became preganant,at least they did with me and most of my friends when they had kids. They also took one shortly after I delivered. In fact two of my friends had the immunity before they had their babies, but had to get the vaccine before they went home from the hospital with their babies. Then again I think his was the first baby,so maybe they did not get it each time.I only have one.Gabby said the worst sho was the meningitis shot, she said it just felt odd, like something was shotting through her arm

When I was pregnant with my first in 1993, I was at a civilian doctor.
