DYK Thread for JULY
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

The tetanus shot is what they call a trivalent booster
It has 3 components: Tetanus, diptheria and pertussis

Wow, that's crazy!!
And sad for the bat, too!
How did he find out? And I wonder how it got in there. . .
Poor Mike!! :(
I'm surprised you didn't have immmunity to rubella or measles and mumps
I had to have a TB test to voluteer at the hospital, and my husband gets one every year too
I think it's required for health care workers by the CDC
Fortunately, he's never been positive, which is a miracle, considering what he's been exposed to over the years
Last year he stuck himself with a dirty needle that the tech had left in the bedclothes of a patient he was working on
He gathered up the bloody bed clothes, and the needle went right through his gloved hand
He had to go on anti-viral medication for like 6 weeks
The meds made him very sick!
He was tested for HIV and Hep C again at 6 months, and it was negative, thank goodness!
What kind of nurse do you want to be?
Michael did a rubella titer on me before we started trying to have kids
I don't know it that was required, or just his paranoia
Yes, HIV test when you get pregnant too
That was voluntary when I was pregnant though, but I opted to have it done
I'm old enough to have had the small pox vaccine when I was little
You can always tell people born before around 1973 (When I think they stopped giving it), because they have these round pocky scars in their upper arms, LOL
Both Michael and I have one
And none of my kids have immunity
Yes, Group B strep
I remember that
My sister was positive and had to take a dose of antibiotics in labor
And they do a blood test for - Rh factor, too
Even though Michael and I both have 0+ blood, they still tested me
I always sort of wondered if they were covering their butts in the event that my husband was not actually the father, LOL
Matthew gets the meningitis vaccine next Summer
Now he's had the tetanus booster, so he's good to go on that
That sounds like cool plans!
I adore our screened in porch
I'm out there now
Matthew just called me on Michael's cell to tell me that he went off the high diving platform head first
