DYK Thread for JULY

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

It's my understanding that you have to inform a patient if you test for HIV

I've heard Michael say that whenever they test for HIV, they should test for Hep C, since it's transmitted the same way, and many times people are co-infected

The Melting Pot sounds really good

I might suggest that to Michael for tonight, depending upon what time they get back from the pool

I hope you're having a blast!!

maybe they didn't on me since I had just had the MMR 5 years prior???

or maybe they did and didn't tell me??? She went into a lot of detail on my second visit on the results--especially because of the blood type issue (the Rh).

how weird--because it was ON my ob-gyn's schedule for 35 weeks in 1996 for ALL pregnancies. I actually had it done at 33 or 34 weeks because I was having some kind of issue (was that the dizziness?...I think the vertigo issue I had was earlier in my pg..maybe cramps other than Braxton-Hicks?)

he pulled open the hood, and it was tucked in, but right on top! You would not believe that they did NOT see it. I had to tell them to go look...they had to pull the car back in to check it out. They didn't even see it and it was right on top!

he thinks he hit it on the interstate, but the way it's tucked (vertically) in and at the top, I don't think so. I think it went in for a nap, and didn't wake up in time to get out of there.

I just can't believe they didn't see it. Um, hello..a furry-winged thing does not come standard on Corollas!!

Mike has the scar, but I was born in 1974, so I didn't get it.

LOL--well, it was a good thing I was tested because I didn't know. Both of my parents were O+ and we knew very little about it, so I thought I was +. That information helped me understand genetics a lot better when I took biology in college and now teaching it.

I was tested early for the group B (it was routine at 35 weeks, but I was having some kind of issue at 33 or 34 weeks), tested positive. Was tested AGAIN at 35 weeks, and was negative (after a dose of antibiotics). Then I was tested again at 37 weeks (since I had been positive at one point), and tested positive, so I was on antibiotics "for the duration of the pregnancy", which happened to be just one more week. They tested again when I was admitted for delivery AND put me on a drip, I was negative, but they left me on the drip just in case.

Aly had meningitis & the varicella booster a year before DTaP (I think I mixed up the letters there), but with the new immunization schedule for kids a year younger than her, I don't know what the actual schedule is.
