DYK Thread for September

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

That could have been really tramatic for your brother.Especially if teachers were not recommending he be held back.

Our cut off date is August 30, the majority of people I know don't send their July and August birthday kids until they are 6 years old.

Here, age 5 is kindergarten and age 6 is first grade

If they were going in to kindergarten, wouldn't that mean that they would be 19 graduating from high school??

That seems really old to me

19 seems like it should be freshman in college

Ours is October 1st

They were actually due Oct 25, so I did consider holding them back, but they were academically ready

Matthew did OK

He says he likes elementary school better than middle school

I think he felt kind of lost :(

But he is the kind of kid who always takes a while to adjust to change

When I was a kid, the cut-off was February 1st

So if you turned 5 on January 31st, you went to kindergarten

That meant you were 4 for half of the year

My sister Maria's birthday is December 15, and she was 4 going into kindergarten
