DYK Thread for September

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Its gotten so much more academic earlier partly because of the standardized testing aspect.

DYK that sounds like a fun trip downtown, I bet everyone has fun even if they come home tired out ;-) My bro is coming down from NJ & we're finishing up the yardwork at my parents so I'll be tired but for a different reason.

DYK sounds like the kiddos have adjusted to the start of school just fine. Can't see the girls' pic here at work so I'll check it out when I get home.

DYK that sounds like Rach too...she doesn't like math as much so says that science & math are her weaker subjects. However, we just got the standardized test results from the state & as expected she scored in the advanced %ile for reading but this yr also for math.

DYK I've actually gone online to check on applying for the local private Catholic school as well as the local HS IB program to see what the curriculums are like.

DYK ITA about the pressure to start academics earlier is for No Child Left Behind mandates & state testing.

DYK just for comparison's sake I know my parents told me they had to pick academic tracks in jr. high (this was in China & ~60 yrs ago) & go to school much longer so they use to tell my girls they had it easy ;-)

DYK did you see the post about the educational documentary 2 Million Minutes on the MS/HS board? I bet if Jordyn saw it & realized how much more rigorous other countries' educational systems she'd find it eye opening....I told Rach we'll have to go & see it. DH & I told her now jobs are global so its not only about getting the best education in the US but competition w/other countries.
