DYK Thread for September
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

We got our stae results yesterday.Gabby also scored advanced in both math and reading. She also scores high when they take the SAT,so she must understand math, she just claims she does not.She just has to switch gears when she does math, because she really does tend to think outside the box and she is very creative.
Does Rach have a preference about which H/S she will go to next year? Are you also looking into what sports they offer for girls, since Rach is good at sports.

DYK she says she wants to go to the private Catholic HS because she's heard the academics are good, which they are but then again when ur paying 15K/yr it should!! Since she's had a yr of going to the public HS for Chinese she has a feel for the school already....sports aren't a big consideration to her. She's starting to reconsider playing competitive lacrosse now - said it took up a lot of time. Haven't talked in depth to her about HS sports but it can be a major commitment; my niece is on the JV soccer team & works out after school every day & does weights too. I think it would be good for Rach to try & keep up w/sports since she's the type of kid that needs structure. We'll see after she has an actual visit to the private HS what she thinks. At age 12 they still have no idea of differences in schools til they go & see it in person.
DYK the idea of writing an essay & taking an entrance exam has Rach worried now...she asked if I'd be disappointed if she didn't make it. The HS website said:
The Admissions Office has approximately 800 active applications each year. From those, GC selects a freshman class of 300.
So I think that's what's got her worried ;-).
I think even if you know at 13/14 what you want to do as a career, that doesn't always mean that once you get into it or really studying it, that you will like it as much.
I'll have to check out that documentary, it sounds interesting.
Jordyn's cheerleading was cancelled the other night.
