DYK Thread for September

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

DYK I think the AP/IB program is fine but if you're an average student then the HS experience isn't as enjoyable. The HS actually got a lot of IB teachers from one of the more established IB programs (there were only two in the county but now are ~8) so the IB program is very good from what I've heard. The HS is one of the smallest in the county w/roughly 1200 students so its about the same size as the private Catholic HS.

DYK is Gabby interested in attending private school or is she content to go to the local public HS? Will any of her friends go to private or will most of them remain in public?

Gabby wants to go to the public H/S most of her friends are also going to the public H/S.Our public H/S does offer a lot of honors and AP courses. The only thing I am not thrilled with is a three year remodeling job(started when Gab was in 5th grade)is no where near finished, because of politics. The football field however is beautiful.Gabby'sH/S probaly has about 900-1000 students. The boy Gabby liked last year is actually going to private H/S.In fact he went to one of the Catholic school this year so he can get used to Catholic school.

I have to say im not wild about jackie going to public school either. The emphasis on sports here is unbelievable. but Jackie wants to cheer and at private school she wont be able to, so i guess we are going to stay in sports....yipee. Guess im going to need a second job now. any suggestions? LOL

I am just sort of annoyed that they managed to get the football field done, but there are sections of the school that are kind of dangerous because they can not get constuction done.I think the education will be fine, just not sure why the football field was more important than the science labs...I think it is great Jackie found something she really likes though, evn though cheering probably would not be your first choice. It is still a good activity.

I know how you feel about the stadium. Our stadiums are elaborate also. Its silly to see the money they spend on those instead of schools and books.....ugh. but dont get me started there.

Yes jackie seems to be enjoying her cheerleading. Im happy. But im very worried about her grades throughout the year. Her schedule is soo busy with playing band at the eight grade games and cheering at the seventh grade games....its time consuming. and practice for both is hard. I just hope she learns to keep everything straight.
