DYK Thread for September

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Yes, I'm settling okay. Aly's doing fine health-wise...I hope I didn't jinx it. She hasn't been sick this school year.

None of my students have tested positive for H1N1. But it is around. In fact, Aly's ped said 90% of the cases he had seen (this was last week that he said this) were H1N1, but in most cases it's very mild right now (it could morph/mutate, though and it can be deadly as is).

Heard this morning that they're not as worried for the over 50 population because this one is very similar to the Asian flu of '58 and people over 50 have developed an immunity. In fact, they were saying that when the vaccine becomes available in Oct/Nov, they will plan to administer in stages and the over 50s will likely not be the first allowed to get it.

Also heard last weekend that had the vaccine been available earlier this year, they could have put it in the regular vaccine, and they plan to next year.

I still need to get my vaccine...I finished my antibiotics today so I can get it next week.

Washington State in Seattle had over 2000 cases as of Monday--LSU played at Washington State Saturday...the team plus fans all went to Washington--including a teacher from my school. Hope they didn't bring it home....lol.

Hello everyone.

Speaking of the H1N1 flu, Kassidy's private school, which only has about 350 students, has it going around.

Finished all my school stuff and all my road-running (groceries, pharmacy--not bank, I didn't leave early enough, and bought new shoes). Working on housework now....one load in dryer, one load in washer, and one load ready to fold (but is waiting until my 2 loads are finished drying).

Still have to do bathrooms & vacuum.

We've been gone all day today, we went to the 7th grade volleyball tournament. We went to lunch with a friend and her dd between games. I hadn't planned on staying for the whole thing, but we did, so we didn't get home until almost 5:00.

The A team did well, they ended up in the finals and took 4th place, I think there were 8 schools there. The B team didn't make it to the finals, but it was really close. They tied another school with their wins/losses, so they had to go to points to determine who would go to finals, and our team didn't make it.

I came home and cleaned the kitchen and dining room, then went to pick up chinese food for dinner. I also started some laundry.

I just read for 3 hours, and I'm taking a study break

Not too sure if I'll go back to it tonight or not

I started feeling a little queasy

I don't know if I just need a break, if it's something I ate, or if I'm coming down with something

I was in NYC yesterday, so who knows what germs I picked up

I sure hope I'm NOT getting sick!! :p

Matthew's 11th birthday is already on Tuesday

All my kids' birthdays are within weeks of each other, and it's hard, LOL!

I'll be "birthday-ed" out

I always say---we must have been really fertile in the Wintertime ;)
