**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members.

The trip to Biloxi/Gulfport and New Orleans with the youth was amazing.

We got back late on the afternoon of the 23rd of July and I just now feel like I have recovered. We had a progressive dinner with our church group this past Saturday. Our place was the dessert stop this time, which was fun. One of the women in the group brought a Pavlova, which was heavenly. I could not decide what to make, so I made tiny blueberry and strawberry pies in 4ounce jelly jars, tiny raspberry cheesecakes, and a peach crisp.

Have you been to New Orleans before? We are headed over there next match for a 2 day cheer competition. We've never been there before.

I called the doctor's office today. We were there in June for jordyn's sports physical and they were supposed to do 2 referrals for us, one o her podiatrist for new inserts nd one to a dermatologist. The summer flew by and I realized today we hadn't gotten any paperwork. Called today, they never did them! Ugh. They did them today and I got her an appt with her podiatrist next week. But I have a feeling getting a new patient appt at the dermatologist before school starts is not going to happen.

I hate it when stuff like that happens. I can't tell you how many times I've waited for either the doc or pharmacy to call me and tell me a script is ready only to find out the pharmacy never made the request in the first place! The whole thing is flippin' automated. How hard is it to set the system up to alert the pharmacist if a patient request is over a certain number of days old. It's about 10 lines of code. I used o do that stuff for a living... Cripes, if they want to pay me the $75/hr consulting fee, I'll do it for them.

LOL! Ami, you wouldn't think it was that hard. When I called the doctor's office the nurse was like, who did you talk to, did you call in to ask for a referral? Umm, no, we were there for a sports physical, we met with the doctor directly, one isn't a new referral, we have to get a referral every single year to see her podiatrist because we only go in once a year to get new inserts for her shoes, but it expires after a year. So next summer we will make sure we get her to him for new inserts as soon as school is out so the referral is still good before she leaves for college. And then I left my cell phone in the car today and don't feel like walking all the way back to the parking garage to get it, so I'll have to call the dermatologist this morning after they open to see about scheduling that appt. as soon as possible. The only good thing about the office is they are actually open til 6:30 on Wednesdays, so hopefully even if we can't get in til school starts, we shouldn't have to pull Jordyn out of school early to go in for the appt.

I figured this would happen, which is why we asked for the referral way back in June for the dermatologist. They can't see Jordyn until the beginning of October. sigh. I hope she doesn't run out of her creams at all before then, if she does, we may have to call her primary and get new scripts written and if they balk at me I will definitely complain that they dropped the ball on the referrals and we would have alredy been in to see the derm if not for having to wait for so long.

So Jordyn texted, they are 3 hours from home, after lunch on the way home from cheer camp, and the coach decides to annouce she is resigning as of 8/24. Jordyn said most everyone is crying and its a very awkward bus ride home...
